How Bizlings is designed to be safe, kind, and appropriate for kids ages 6–13 — including kids who are just learning to read.

The short version

Bizlings is a bookkeeping app for kid-entrepreneurs ages 6–13. It's built for the youngest kid who can't yet read fluently and the confident 12–13-year-old who is already running a small business. Everything happens on the device: no accounts, no ads, no trackers, no chat, no in-app purchases, no way for a stranger to reach a child through the app.

Who Bizlings is for

Bizlings is designed for kids ages 6–13 who are starting or running a small business — a lemonade stand, a bracelet shop, a lawn-mowing route, a card store at school. The app helps them track money coming in, money going out, and the profit they've earned, so they can make smart, generous decisions with what they make.

It works for the whole range:

  • Ages 6–8: early readers who need pictures, big buttons, and someone (or something) to read the screen aloud.
  • Ages 9–13: confident readers who want to run the numbers themselves and see real profit at the end of the day.

Designed for early readers

Kids as young as 6 can use Bizlings without an adult reading for them. The app is built so that a child who can't read fluently can still do every important action:

  • Read-aloud on every screen — built-in text-to-speech so a child can tap and listen to any label, number, or button.
  • Icon-first UI — actions are shown as pictures first, words second. Minimal reading required.
  • Big numbers, big buttons, one action per screen — no menus to hunt through.
  • Every mistake is easy to undo — nothing a kid taps is permanent or scary.
  • A friendly mascot and celebratory badges — feedback is cheerful and visual, not text-heavy.

Business concepts, simplified for kids

Adult finance words are replaced with words a kid actually uses. The underlying math is real; the language is not.

  • Seed Money instead of "capital" or "investment" — money from parents or grandma to start the business.
  • Sale Day instead of "revenue period" — one day of selling, counted at the end.
  • Purses (Cash, Venmo, Cash App) instead of "accounts" — just labels for where the money lives.
  • Move Money into Save, Checking, Invest, or Give instead of "allocation" or "budgeting" — the kid decides where their profit goes.
  • Profit is shown as one big number, not a profit-and-loss statement.

What's not in the app

The safest features are the ones we didn't build. Bizlings deliberately has none of the following:

  • No user accounts, sign-up, login, email, or phone number collection.
  • No chat, messaging, comments, or any social feature — kids cannot contact other users, and other users cannot contact them.
  • No user-generated content shared with anyone outside the device.
  • No ads, no third-party trackers, no analytics SDKs.
  • No in-app purchases and no subscriptions inside the app.
  • No links out to the open web or social media platforms.
  • No camera, microphone, contacts, or location access.
  • No connection to real bank accounts, real cards, or any real money movement — Bizlings tracks money, it never moves money.
  • No push notifications.
  • No violence, scary content, mature themes, profanity, or gambling mechanics.
  • No loot boxes, spin-to-win, or randomized rewards tied to spending.

Parental oversight

Because everything Bizlings records lives on the device, a parent or guardian can review, change, or delete their child's data at any time by opening the app on the device, resetting it from its settings, or uninstalling it. There is no server account to close and no data of ours to request.

Privacy, in one paragraph

Bizlings does not collect personal information from children. Nothing a kid types into the app leaves the device. There is no cloud sync, no account server, and no analytics that identify a person. See the full Privacy Policy for details.

Content rating (Apple 4+)

Bizlings self-declares no objectionable content in any App Store category and targets Apple's 4+ age rating:

  • Cartoon or fantasy violence — none.
  • Realistic violence — none.
  • Sexual content or nudity — none.
  • Profanity or crude humor — none.
  • Alcohol, tobacco, or drug references — none.
  • Mature or suggestive themes — none.
  • Simulated gambling — none.
  • Horror or fear themes — none.
  • Unrestricted web access — none.
  • User-generated content shared with others — none.
